Four Generations. One Passion.
A bold start, built on trust.
Our story began in the 1950s with Robert Murray’s VW Garage in Toome, importing and selling Volkswagen Beetles. At the time, this was a bold move: many people were hesitant to buy German-made cars just after World War II. But the Beetle quickly proved itself- being reliable, affordable, and soon beloved by locals. Robert’s commitment to honest advice, quality workmanship, and exceptional customer care earned the garage a loyal following.
Growing the legacy with Tommy & Liz Murray
The next chapter was led by Tommy Murray, Robert’s son, and his wife Liz, who built a petrol station and garage selling Datsuns. They continued to maintain and work on Beetles, carrying forward the same dedication to quality and service.
The next generation of Murray brothers grew the business into Murray Motorsport as it is today.
Combining traditional mechanical expertise with modern technology, the team specialises in diagnostics, wiring, tuning, and other advanced services as automotive technology evolves. Motorsport runs in the family- Tommy, Liz, the Murray brothers, and even the fourth generation have all competed or continue to compete in rallying/ racing. This passion for motorsport keeps our skills sharp and our approach to performance and precision at the forefront of everything we do. Some may even say we have petrol in our DNA.
